Yale head coach Keith Allain (Worcester, Mass.) was in need of a new assistant coach after the program and Josh Siembida parted ways in May.
According to multiple sources, Allain is set to hire Alaska Fairbanks assistant coach Joe Howe. The 31-year-old has been on the Nanooks’ staff since 2018 after spending three seasons as a volunteer goaltending coach at Denver.
From Plymouth, Minn., Howe was a four-year starter at Colorado College from 2009 to 2013. After graduating from CC, he played two seasons of minor league hockey in the AHL and ECHL.
Holy Cross was in need of an entirely new coaching staff after David Berard left the Crusaders to become assistant athletic director at Providence.
Bill Riga, a longtime assistant coach at Quinnipiac, was named the head coach at Holy Cross last month.
Riga, from Westboro, Mass., has hired Rivier head coach Eric Sorenson to be one of his new assistants.
Sorenson was the head coach of Rivier College this past season. Prior to that, the Fairport, N.Y., native was an assistant coach at Williams College and Nazareth College. He was a collegiate goaltender at Western New England University.
