Nobles senior defenseman Colby Bailey committed to play Division III college hockey at Babson College, it was announced over the weekend.
The Southboro, Mass., native is a right-shot, offensive-minded defender in his third season playing for Brian Day’s team at Nobles. In 2019-20, Bailey has two goals and 15 assists in 24 games as his team looks to cement a spot in the Elite 8 Tournament.
In addition to playing for Nobles during the prep season, Bailey has spent time playing for the Boston Jr. Eagles. Bailey is a good skater, has a good stick and will be a good addition for Jamie Rice’s Beavers.
New Hampshire lands two NAHL defensemen
New Hampshire received commitments from two New Jersey Titans defensemen, Cade Penney and Joe Nagle, over the weekend.Â
Both players performed at last week’s NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in Attleboro, Mass. Penney, an ’01 from Thornton, Pa., has very good feet, but his puck decisions will have to get better to make a positive impact in Hockey East. He has four goals and 21 assists in 45 games for the Titans this season.
Nagle, a ’99 from Weymouth, Mass., played parts of four seasons for the Northeast Generals before being traded to the Titans earlier this season. Between the two organizations, Nagle has three goals and 20 assists in 45 NAHL games this season. Nagle grew up playing in the Boston Advantage youth organization.
UMass Lowell adds Blanchard to pipeline
Over the weekend, Sioux City Musketeers defenseman Gabe Blanchard announced his commitment to UMass Lowell. The East Aurora, N.Y., native is a 2019 graduate of Trinity-Pawling where he played two seasons for Bobby Ferraris’ team.
In 41 USHL games this season, Blanchard has two goals and seven assists. Blanchard has a solid combination of toughness to go along with an ability to break pucks out of his own zone. The ’00 could arrive at Lowell in 2020 or 2021.
Murray commits to UMass
UMass received a verbal commitment from Portage Terriers defenseman Owen Murray. The ’02 from Decker, Manitoba, is slated to matriculate to Amherst for the 2021-22 season.
Murray is in his second season of junior hockey in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. He has four goals and 21 assists in 28 games so far this season.
Quinnipiac commits Campbell
After watching Springfield Jr. Blues center Seamus Campbell at the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, the Bobcats offered the ’02 from St. Louis, Mo. He has a goal in four NAHL games this season while splitting time between there and Kirkwood High School.
American International picks up two commits
American International received commitments from Madison Capitols left wing Verners Egle and Shreveport Mudbug left wing Timofey Khokhlachev.
Egle, a ’99 from Latvia, has three goals and 10 assists in 37 USHL games this winter. He’s already played 185 games in the USHL between Madison and Dubuque.
Khokhlachev was a standout at the recent NAHL Top Prospects Tournament. A power forward, the Moscow, Russia, native has 11 goals and 20 assists in 48 NAHL games this season for the Shreveport Mudbugs. A late ’01, he played 10 games with Des Moines in the USHL last season.
Cushing alum chooses Robert Morris
Cushing alum Matt Guerra of the NAHL’s Lone Star Brahmas has committed to Robert Morris. The ’99 right wing from Sanford, Fla., has 16 goals and 39 assists in 47 games this winter. He had a solid showing at the recent NAHL Top Prospects Tournament. Guerra was previously committed to Bentley.
