Junior Bruins right wing Johnny Mulera committed to the University of Maine for this upcoming season, the junior organization announced Wednesday morning.
The Black Bears are the third Hockey East program Mulera has committed to over the past five years. In October 2015, while playing for the Skipjacks, he committed to Providence. Last summer, he switched his allegiance from the Friars to UConn.
The ’99 from Rockville, Md., scored 34 goals and added 40 assists in 49 games with the Junior Bruins in the USPHL NCDC during the 2019-20 season, his third with the program based out of Marlboro, Mass. Mulera played two seasons of prep school hockey at Winchendon prior to joining the Junior Bruins.
Former Maine commit Farrell staying home
Dallas Farrell, who committed to Maine in July 2016, will instead be playing college hockey north of the border for St. Francis Xavier. The ’99 forward never panned out quite how the Black Bears were hoping.
Farrell spent three seasons playing in New England between the Providence Capitals and the Junior Bruins. The Roseneath, Prince Edward Island, native finished his junior hockey career playing for the Pictou County Crushers in the Maritimes Junior A Hockey League.
Borshyov heads to Lake Superior
Former Quinnipiac commit Artyom Borshyov has a new college hockey destination. The Vitebsk, Belarus, native will head to Lake Superior State in the fall.
The ’00 left-shot defenseman appeared in 48 games with the USHL’s Youngstown Phantoms this past season. He recorded five goals and 12 helpers. Borshyov previously played in New England for the Springfield Junior Pics and Northern Cyclones.
Brown lands commit Pilosof
Pickering Panthers center Eli Pilosof has committed to Brown for the 2021-22 season. The Toronto native has played the past two seasons in the OJHL but will be making the move to the BCHL for the upcoming season.
In 52 games this past season, Pilosof had 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points, which marked a 22-point increase from his first season in junior hockey. The ’02 formerly played Midget hockey for the North York Rangers.
