The Beast Series Columbus Day Showcase will take place this Saturday and Sunday at Massachusetts rinks Haverhill Valley Forum, Tsongas Center, Chelmsford Forum and Lawrence Valley Forum.
Games in the 18U, 16U and 15U divisions will occur at the venues around the Merrimack Valley. It will be the last Beast Series event until the championship weekend later this month.
Mercer Chiefs, Neponset Valley River Rats, North Jersey Avalanche, Northern Cyclones Prep, Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, Rochester Coalition, Selects Academy, Springfield Rifles and Yale will all be in attendance. Some other local entrants making guest appearances will be Boston Advantage, East Coast Wizards, Valley Jr. Warriors, Walpole Express and the 95 Giants.
In addition to the Beast Series and E9 teams, Gentry Academy 15U from Minnesota will make the trek out East to showcase its talented roster. Gentry’s 15U team is highlighted by ’03 forward Chaz Lucius and ’04 forward Cruz Lucius. The brothers are both committed to play college hockey at Minnesota. ’03 goaltender Anton Castro and ’03 forward Bennett Schimek are the team’s other top prospects. The team stays mostly in Minnesota, so it’s a good bet that their games will be well-attended.
