The QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats acquired the rights to Jake Boguniecki (Orange, Conn.) from the Gatineau Olympiques on Monday.
Boguniecki requested his release from the U.S. National Team Development Program on June 26 after playing his U17 season with Team USA.
He is likely headed to Moncton this fall.
Gatineau drafted Boguniecki in the ninth round of the 2025 QMJHL Draft. In Moncton, Boguniecki will likely join a team full of New Englanders.

The 6-foot-2, 183-pound defenseman is a do-it-all, two-way defenseman who had seven points in 46 games for the NTDP last season. He is physical and hard to play against, and should be a legitimate prospect for the 2027 NHL Draft.
He grew up playing for Mid Fairfield and starred there as one of the top '09s in the United States, and is committed to Boston College.
Boguniecki also grew up a phenomenal baseball player, too. Last year was his first season solely focused on hockey.
His father is Eric, a pro scout for the NHL's Utah Mammoth who played collegiately at UNH and professionally from 1997-2010.
