Jack Queally, arguably the top newly eligible local player, committed to Boston College on Friday afternoon.
The Milton, Mass., native is fresh off a strong, 37-point season as a sophomore at St. Sebastian's. That came after a freshman year in which he posted 10 points as the team's No. 1 center.
He also had a big fall for the Neponset Valley River Rats with 26 goals and 52 points in 32 games, serving as their No. 1 center.
Queally's play was so strong that he made the U.S. National Team Development Program squad for this coming season. The Halifax Mooseheads also snagged him in the second round of the QMJHL Draft earlier this year.

His college decision came down to BC, Boston University and Providence College.
At 5-foot-11 and 181 pounds, Queally profiles as a two-way center. His details are fantastic; he's strong on face-offs, and he can shut down opposing top lines.
The biggest question mark going into this past season was the ability to create offense, and that showed immensely, as he produced at a consistent clip.
He's one of the only players who profiles as a two-way, anywhere-in-the-lineup kind of player at the NTDP. That should serve him well.
As for what BC is getting, Queally, in my opinion, profiles as the exact kind of collegiate player you win with — a three-to-four-year player who works their way up the lineup and becomes a reliable force as a top-six center by their junior and senior year.
There's also no such thing as a safe projection, but I feel confident that Queally will play pro hockey someday, which is rare for me to say about a kid who just turned 16.
