The 2018 Massachusetts Hockey Boys CCM High Performance Festival was held over the weekend at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro.

Four teams of prospects at each age division, 2001-2003, were competing for a spot in next weekend’s Massachusetts Hockey Boys CCM High Performance Final 40.

The selections for this upcoming weekend’s event which will determine who represents the district at the USA Hockey Player Development Camp’s this summer have been made public.

Below are the final 40 this observer would have chosen for next weekend along with notes for some of the top performers.

2003s:

Forwards

1. Jack Hughes
#10 Orange, Junior Eagles, Left Shot (NCAA: Northeastern)

Hughes is the undisputed top forward in this age group. He’s slick with the puck on his stick and can really shoot it as well as make some very nice passes.

2. J.P. Turner
#18 Blue, Falmouth HS, Right Shot

Turner has added some size and is able to be an explosive force. He can turn it on and dominate when he wants. He’ll be at Avon Old Farms in the fall.

Teleguine was the best forward in this age group. He’s a dynamic skater and he really showed the ability to make plays and be a force just about every shift.

2. Owen Fowler
#11 Orange, Central Catholic, Left Shot

Fowler was the top uncommitted prospect in this age group. His physical tools – skating and strength – are both very good. He’s heavy on pucks and he competes hard. He drives the net and plays with a purpose.

3. David Sacco
#16 Black, St. John’s Prep, Right Shot

Sacco is leaving St. John’s Prep for Lawrence Academy. He’s a competitor and plays a complete, 200-foot game while bringing it physically.

4. Riley Duran
#11 White, Malden Catholic, Right Shot

Duran is another player leaving the MIAA ranks for Lawrence. He’s a strong skater with good size.

5. Ryan Corcoran
#10 Orange, Boston Advantage 15U, Left Shot

Corcoran is a very smart, cerebral player. He skates well and has good vision as a setup guy.

6. James Tepper
#17 Black, Shrewsbury HS, Right Shot

Tepper is looking to leave Shrewsbury for prep. Proctor is the likely destination. He’s got good size, can skate, and finishes. His dad played at Maine.

The Lunenburg, Mass., native is heading to Gunnery in the fall. He’s got a smooth stride and can really play with pace. He had a great weekend.
