VANCOUVER — After Matthew Boldy and Spencer Knight were nabbed in the first round of the 2019 National Hockey League draft on Friday night at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, another 15 players with New England ties were selected on the second day of the event.

Jayden Struble
46th overall by the Montreal Canadiens

Struble: “I played a lot of sports growing up. It rounds you as an athlete and gets you in better shape. I played basketball, baseball, lacrosse and hockey. (I chose) hockey because my papa taught me how to play when I was 3 years old. I’ve always loved it and knew it was going to be my sport, and I’ve stuck with it ever since.”
Zachary Jones
68th overall by the New York Rangers

Jones: “Playing at (Selects Academy) was awesome. I wasn’t really a big name going in there. We had guys like Joel Farabee, Emilio Pettersen. I went in there and was like, ‘I’m going to play my game,’ and it worked out. I got to develop. I grew a ton — literally and mentally — and it worked out for the best. I loved it there. I loved South Kent. It’s going to be a home for life for me. It’s my home away from home, for sure.”

And that helped me be here today.”
