Mike Levine will join Jerry Keefe’s staff as an assistant coach at Northeastern University, multiple sources have confirmed to New England Hockey Journal.
Levine, from Sandwich, Mass., has been director of collegiate scouting for the Vegas Golden Knights since 2016-17. The most notable college free agent signed under Levine’s watch was defenseman Zach Whitecloud out of Bemidji State.
Prior to his time with the Golden Knights, Levine was an assistant coach at Brown University for three seasons. In addition, Levine previously worked as head coach at Kimball Union and New Hampton.
Levine, who played college hockey at Utica, brings a wealth of knowledge in terms of the player pool that Northeastern will be looking to secure. He has a vast array of connections to help the Huskies on the recruiting trail. Along with Keefe and fellow assistant coach Mike McLaughlin, Levine should be able to guide Northeastern in the right direction in terms of procuring talent for the future.
While Levine has added to the Northeastern staff, Keefe is now on the hunt for a new director of hockey operations. Matt Harlow has stepped down from that position to become director of hockey operations with the Hartford Wolf Pack, the AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers. Harlow, from Bridgewater, Mass., had been with the Huskies for two seasons. The Brown alum had been a scout for the New York Islanders and an assistant coach at Tabor previously.
