There will be a unique showcase taking place at various rinks around the Greater Boston area from Friday to Sunday.
Teams from the Beast Series, made up of programs from the Northeast, will take on teams from the High Performance Hockey League (HPHL), boasting many of the top midget programs in the country. The showcase will feature games at the 16U and 18U levels.
Games will take place mainly at Boston College’s Conte Forum, Holy Cross' Hart Center and Boston University’s Agganis Arena and Walter Brown Arena. However, a spttering of games will be held at Canton Ice House in Canton, Mass., HockeyTown in Saugus, Mass., Rodman Arena in Walpole, Mass., and Malden Valley Forum in Malden, Mass.
Here are all the Beast Series teams hosting the three-day showcase: Neponset Valley River Rats, Yale, North Jersey Avalanche, Rochester Coalition, Selects Academy at South Kent, New Jersey Rockets, Philadelphia Jr. Flyers, Mercer Chiefs, Springfield Rifles and CT Riverhawks.
The following HPHL teams will take on the local entrants: Chicago Mission, Oakland Jr. Grizzlies, Honeybaked, Compuware, Omaha AAA, Team Illinois and Chicago Young Americans.
As is the case with midget hockey, the 16U games will feature more high-end talent as many players go off to junior hockey or prep school before getting to 18U. Chicago Mission 16U and Oakland Jr. Grizzlies 16U will be the two teams from the HPHL that local scouts will want to check out the most. Honeybaked 16U and Compuware 16U are also perennially top programs.
