On Wednesday morning, forward Alex Donovan announced his commitment to Providence College. The Darien, Conn., native had heaps of interest from lots of different places, ultimately choosing the Friars.
Donovan was initially committed to Denver, but reopened his commitment earlier this month.
Even though he's gone undrafted in the NHL Draft the past two seasons, he raised his stock quite a bit this past winter after posting 25 goals and 53 points in 63 games for the QMJHL's Saint John Sea Dogs. It was his first season in junior hockey.

The 5-foot-11, 176-pound right wing left Mid Fairfield, where he played all his youth hockey, for Shattuck-St. Mary's in 2021 for his 14U season and spent four years there, playing a year of 18U hockey there in 2024-25.
Donovan's production should increase in the QMJHL this coming season, as he's slated to be in Saint John.

Given his productive, two-way game, he projects as a great fit for Providence. He's the kind of player teams win with in today's college game.
