The Maine high school hockey girls circuit is relatively small in comparison to New England’s surrounding states. But make no mistake — there is some serious talent coming through Maine’s 13 teams set to compete for a championship this winter.
Some star players from last season’s squads are already playing at the collegiate level or are off to the prep landscape to take a new step in their hockey careers. Expect this season to produce a similar class of talent in what is a wide-open landscape.
These 10 players are by no means the only ones who are expected to turn heads around the rinks this winter. But they have definitely put the league on notice with strong play last season.
From star goaltenders to two-way defenders to goal-hungry forwards, these players check all the boxes.

Solveig Ledwick | sr., F/D, Brunswick
Ledwick put up a monster 40-point season last winter and potted 30 goals to play a big role in Brunswick’s trip to the state final. She garnered all-state honors and plays both forward and defense. She is especially dangerous on the power play, leading the state in goals on the player-advantage last season.
Leksi Langevin | soph., F, Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland/Oxford Hills
Pocketing an eye-popping 39 goals last season, Langevin also added 14 helpers for a whopping 53 points in an impressive freshman campaign. She accounted for 45% of the team’s scoring output and found twine in all but one game on her way to all-state designation. The sky is the limit for Langevin.
Paige Fecteau | soph., G, Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland/Oxford Hills
In her first year of high school hockey, Fecteau amassed a 12-5-2 record between the pipes as a freshman. She boasted a 2.06 goals against average and a .902 save percentage.
Leah Michaud | sr., D, Winslow Co-op
A lockdown defender, Michaud let her offensive prowess show last winter with a 9-6-15 season on the blue line. The senior will anchor Winslow’s defensive core this winter. She should be a force, and is certainly someone to track.
Hambrick’s 4-9-13 season a year ago is only the beginning of what head coach Elliot Emberley believes to be an offensive outburst for the talented forward. Hambrick has a motor in the offensive zone and doesn’t shy away from puck battles.
Ellie Skolnekovich | sr., G, Cheverus
Not many players beat Skolnekovich last season en route to Cheverus’s third state title in as many seasons. Her 1.17 goals against average placed her among the elite in the girls field, and she is expected to be just as dominant this season. Cheverus relinquished just 21 goals last season in 19 games.
Taylor Lucas | soph., F, Cheverus
Lucas tallied 7-11-18 last season and is expected to play a bigger role to replace a large chunk of Cheverus’ scoring output that was lost to graduation. Lucas showed a lot of promise in her freshman campaign.
Adelaide Strout | sr., D, Yarmouth/Freeport
Strout may very well be the top blueliner in the state this winter. Earning all-state honors after a stellar 15-21-36 season last year, Strout headlines a Yarmouth/Freeport team hungry to return to the semifinals. She possesses a college-level shot and is able to excel in the transition game due to her high hockey IQ.
Celia Zinman | sr., F, Yarmouth/Freeport
A speedy and physical center, Zinman recorded 16-10-26 last winter and is expected to be a top scorer in the state yet again. Zinman is one of the more exciting players to watch and never stops skating.
Galligan led her team in scoring last winter with 15 goals and 27 points and will be heavily relied upon to be a big contributor this season for Gorham/Bonny. She played playmaker in last season’s quarterfinal win over York, dishing two assists.

Ellie Skolnekovich | sr., G, Cheverus
